Trying to get back in the baking and cooking groove during those first few weeks after having a baby can be a little tough. On the one hand, you are incredibly exhausted and don’t want to do anything except sleep and maybe grab a shower. And then on the other hand, you get really tired of eating takeout and wish for a nice home cooked meal. I made a whole Thanksgiving dinner by myself just a week after the baby arrived. I guess I’m a little crazy like that.
After about 2 weeks and after the first group of family visitors left, I found myself with a random quiet morning where the baby was still sleeping and I got a serious hankering to do some baking! I made some cranberry orange bread which I always love making around the holidays. And then I spotted some seriously overripe bananas sitting on the counter. Banana bread was definitely in order! I stuck the loaf in the freezer as we were heading out of town for Christmas and then forgot it was in there and it was pretty much the best surprise ever after we got back.
